Accessibility

Updated October 18, 2026

SemesterMath should work for everyone, on any device, including with a keyboard, a screen reader or a zoomed-in screen. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What we do

  • Keyboard: every calculator, button and menu works with the keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline. A “Skip to content” link is the first thing on every page.
  • Labels: every input has a label. Course and category rows label each box (course, credits, grade), and the remove buttons say what they remove.
  • Results are announced: the main result updates live and is announced to screen readers, and actions such as “Link copied” or “Added a course” are announced too.
  • Readable: text and buttons meet AA colour contrast, text is 16 px or larger in inputs, and the layout reflows to a phone-width screen and to 200% zoom without losing content.
  • Touch: buttons and inputs are at least 44 px tall.
  • Your settings: dark mode follows your device setting, and animation is turned off if you ask your device to reduce motion.

Known limitations

  • Wide tables, such as a long course-by-course breakdown, scroll sideways on narrow screens.
  • The site has been checked by us but not yet audited by an outside accessibility specialist.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on SemesterMath is hard or impossible for you to use, please contact us and say which page and what happened. We’ll reply and fix what we can.
